Plan to assist retention of eco-diversity in the Croydon Region, through the creation of the Anzac Memorial Bush Estate on former Croydon Golf Course land



Preamble:
  1. Environmentalists generally suggest a reserve of 40% of an area is required to preserve the eco-systems, consisting of plant, fauna, insects, organisms, and the elements. The eastern suburbs are well below this mark.

  2. The Anzac Tradition is at the base of the rich heritage of Australia's own culture. The Memorial Bush Estate concept can assist to maintain our Australian culture in the face of Americanisation and multiculturalism. Our culture must be defended against these influences, and passed on to succeeding generations.



Renewal where required of all existing perimeter fencing sealing the Estate to exclude domestic pets/animals.

Eradication of any feral pests.

Extensive landscaping and replanting of native trees, plants and grasses.

The re-introduction of suitable native fauna.

Removal of non required buildings and structures - retention of existing car park. Main building for management/administration/maintenance, citizens, and conservation societies use.

The provision of walking tracks for access to the regenerated natural bush.

The erection of suitable Memorial Cairns recognising local servicemen and women and Anzac traditions.

Management plan to be drawn up in consultation with the RSL, conservation groups, local residents, and appropriate local authorities.

Participation of local environment groups to be invited for all aspects.

Volunteer work/input from local residents to be invited at all stages.
