EXPLOITERS GRAB FOR LAND AT

CROYDON GOLF LINKS.

BUT WHAT ABOUT A SAY FOR

 DISTRICT RESIDENTS?

Open parkland space, reserved for over 78 years,
an attractive feature to generations of Australian families settling in the district of Croydon, is now planned to be gobbled up by big business interests for profits from subdividing the land into 600 plus home sites. More houses for the population plague that is descending on Australia.

But what about the citizens who will experience the permanent destruction of their locality and negative impact on their way of life? This grab for land is not just a minor development, but involves an extensive transformation of the district, and imposes on the quality of living of existing residents.

Should residents have a say in what is proposed; do they even want it, or is it all just for Burke of Australand, and Golf Club President Hamilton and his committee, to decide on this redefining of the suburb of Croydon?

Even more clogging of roads, unsuitable for existing traffic flows, loss of open natural space, unsustainable population levels, unsustainable water usage, continuing decline of eco-diversity, environmental degradation, noise and air pollution, overuse of infrastructure, dilution of the community spirit; etc, etc.

Residents well know what is in store - the scars left on the landscape after the Kennett Liberal Government selling off of schools/public land to these big business exploiters leaves a message for all. What could have been environmental relief zones/parks/estates, providing a break from the urban sprawl, and improving the quality of life and enjoyment of citizens, have been lost forever to short term gains for monied interests.

And the same scenario equally applies here:- gone will be the stands of native trees, the misty dawns and brilliant sunsets seen across open fields, the scented breezes, the kookas and other native bird calls, and all the tranquillity this encapsulates; to be replaced by urban blockhouses and another dead eco-system. This is the outcome despite the hype of Australand management, real estate agents, and newspaper columnists.

Residents are to experience this radical transformation of their suburb, but have not even received the courtesy to be asked if they want this land grab forced upon them. It’s all a fait accompli by economic interests, or is it?

WHAT CAN BE DONE?

The Australia First Party, founded in 1996 by Graeme Campbell, former Member of Parliament for Kalgoolie, has a core policy of Citizens Initiated Referenda, a policy to return control over the political process to the citizen; that frees them from the vested interests who direct establishment political parties.

Australia First draws on the rich heritage of Australian democratic tradition, which enshrines

citizens with an entitlement to popular authority.

Graeme has also spoken extensively about what is at the core of these land grabs - the dismantling of the Australian manufacturing economy - and its replacement by a resources, and immigration-driven “trinket sale” type economy. It is this immigration that is feeding demand into the housing market to create profits for building companies/materials suppliers, banks, and land grabbers such as Australand. It is also the major factor in the escalating, inflationary rise in house prices that is now excluding so many young Aussie first home buyers from the market.

Bracks/Beard of the Labor Party won’t help you.

The ALP has devised the so called Melbourne 2030 plan, that sets the exploiters agenda for extensive redevelopment of urban areas, underpinned by Bracks calls for another million migrants to be dumped into our suburbs. The present saga of the Kew Cottages land-grab for 800 units, and the exclusion of the Boorandarah Council from involvement to appease developer demands says it all. Even the families effected by the callous ejection of the disabled residents, have withdrawn from further consultation as they consider it pointless. No, nothing can be expected from ALP politicians - despite any rhetoric - they serve these same vested interests, time and time again.

Smith/Barassi/Honeywood of the Liberal Party won’t help you.

The largest contributors to funds for the Liberal Party are developers. And it is Liberal politicians who have overseen developers’ calls for the highest immigration programme in decades - some 140,000 a year, for the purpose of creating demand in the housing sector, and leading to the appalling urban sprawl of Melbourne. Now predominantly unassimilables, this forebodes detrimental cultural and social consequences for the European base of our Australian civilisation. The environmental decline from overpopulation of our arid continent is already apparent, but none of this is of any consequence to Liberal politicians who forever dance to the tune of big business and immigration advocates.

AUSTRALIA FIRST CAN HELP.

Australia First calls on citizens to stiffen their resolve to enforce democratic input into matters that effect them; and to participate in our plebiscite to determine if the community is for or against the golf club land grab. As an alternative, an Australia First Plan is put forward to have the land purchased for public space as an environmental bush estate, to assist with retaining eco-diversity in the region, and to the benefit and enjoyment of citizens, now and in the future.

If you don’t fight you lose!

These directives are in keeping with our policy of Citizens Initiated Referenda, that provides citizens with a direct say in the affairs that effect them. And also for our general programme that rejects the resources/migration driven “trinket sale” economy, in favour of an independent, ecologically sustainable, Australian owned, manufacturing based economy.

Immigration - now undermining the quality of life of all Australians.
